If you are looking for an answer to what may be a Frequently Asked Question... I may be able to answer your question below! :)

Where did you get your chalkboard or how did you make it?
Chalkboard tutorial post can be found here!

What kind of chalk do you use?
Crayola chalk or sidewalk chalk, really everything I've used has turned out pretty much the same. I do not use chalk markers or paint.

Do you use stencils or a projector for chalk designs?
It is all freehand, it just takes lots of practice & patience. Art, drawing & lettering are all passions of mine that I have been doing for years, so don't get discouraged if it doesn't come to you right away! :)

  1. Hi Jessica, first of all I want to say little baby Harper is oh so cute! Great pictures! Thanks for sharing your world with us. I've been following you since I ran across your Pinterest boards on your pregnancy. I was about a month pregnant when I ran across it and have been following you ever since. You are super creative and I love grabbing ideas from you for my blog. So for that I thank you. I was wondering how you put your month favorites in a picture cluster like you do. I really like that idea. Thank you!

  2. I was wondering the same thing. Please teach us how to do the picture clusters or tell us what you do. Thanks!

  3. I am a new follower who stumbled upon your blog by way of pinterest & I have to say that I have absolutely been loving reading everything. You are such a creative person & I love the chalkboards. I am a new mom, my little girl is 3 months old, so I have really enjoyed reading about your experiences with motherhood. I was wondering if you have ever traveled with Harper? Road trips or airplane? I am getting ready to go on several airplane trips, one with the help of my husband & one without, & I am researching & reading as much as I can about making the travel as smooth as possible with a baby. I would love to hear what you have to say about it if you have had experience with this. I look forward to keeping up with your blog!

  9. Hi Jessica-

You looked absolutely gorgeous throughout your pregnancy and I just found out that I am pregnant! Is there a certain exercise routine you did you recommend?

    Thanks!

  10. Hi Jessica! :)

I'm an avid reader from the Philippines. I, too, am a blogger and I'm expecting a baby girl this March 2013. Your stories about your daughter excite me. I love reading your posts! I'm not as artistic as you, so your posts really inspire me!

    Love your blog!

  14. I love your blog! Specially since I am having a little girl of my own. I love your MAMA + Mini postings but i was wondering if you ever coordinate or find clothes that your baby and husband can wear that are alike. My husband is always complaining that he doesn't know what to get our baby girl and this would be a way to get him more involve/matchy. Can you think if maybe doing a post: DADDY & MINI? or whole family combo? Thanks

  15. Hi, I love your blog and have been reading regularly for almost 8 months. We were inspired by your nursery design and have taken a similar style in designing ours (baby due in May). A question for you: why type/brand of camera do you use? I'd like to upgrade before the baby comes and have enjoyed looking at your pictures.
    Thank you!

  19. Hmmmm.... Whelp it looks as though I will be baking for the next 8 months.... As we just found out we are expecting our second child (according to the 300 hpts that I took in the last wee). Your website is going to be a big help with suggestions and although I am a shitty ass drawer and won't be copying your chalkboard blogs, I will be referencing some of your posts such as your weekly diary (I did something similar on FB with my first child but I didn't have a blog then) to help with documenting mine and do a few little food creations here and there. :-))) we haven't told anyone yet, so it will be a while but wanted to thank you for the inspiration. :-)

  20. I love reading all your tips and "must haves" I was wondering if you had any input on "must have" nursing bras? Any and all suggestions would be welcomed!

  21. Hello-
I read your post as part of the breastfeeding series over at "Girl with the Red Shoes." I appreciate your honesty, I'm about 7 weeks out from my due date and just about to go buy a breast pump. From someone who did a lot of pumping, do you have any recommendations? Also, you talked about buying lots of extra parts, can you tell me what parts you mean exactly? Would love this wisdom before our girl arrives :)

    Thanks, Michelle

  23. Hi,
I was wondering did you hand out Birth announcements when Harper was born? We're expecting shortly and currently debating whether or not to send them out!
If you did, where did you get them, did you make them yourself? Could you recommend places and show us yours??

  31. Hi Jessica! I have been following your blog since the beginning. I love all your favorites for Harper because I have a little girl almost the same age. I was wondering about the teepee you bought for her. Is that a good investment? I am looking to get one for Christmas but don't want to waste my money if it's not worth it.

Thanks so much for your input!

  32. Hi Jessica- i am 24 weeks pregnant and have finally made the commitment to keep up on my blog... Which I created months ago, but never did anything with it. I have been journaling and documenting my pregnancy on word and have it all saved on USBs. I was just wondering if you ever fear losing your blog with all your updates or if you back everything up? Also, what other things do you do to capture your family's memories? I enjoy scrapbooking, but am so far behind on it. I just recently bought the white Nikon camera that you have and I'm so excited to put it to use!

Your amazing ideas and creative thoughts are an inspiration to so many! Thanks for sharing your story with us! :)

  33. You know what I love about your blog? I'm 4 weeks from delivering our first baby, and for 8 months now, nearly everything I've read about becoming a parent, even written with the best intentions and sense of humor, is absolutely terrifying and depressing. People send me books, articles, Youtube videos, all with the same kind of humor, "Oh you are IN for it. Being a parent is SO HARD - it's the WORST - you'll never sleep again - your life is over." It's all supposed to be funny. But mostly it's just discouraging. I have ZERO doubt this will be the hardest thing I've ever done. I have lots of experience with kids - and I know this is going to be hard. But sometimes, you just need to be reminded why you took this leap. Your blog is such a beautiful, soft, joyful place. The way you focus on the JOY, the FUN, the cuteness. Your positive energy, and zest for life (and holidays!) - reminds me that life is supposed to be fun. And that parenting, while shockingly hard a lot of the times, can also be enjoyable. It can be beautiful, even magical, if you let it be. I know you have awful days like all moms. (The story about Harper vomiting into your mouth, then pooping in the shower, made me want to hug you.) But I like that you FOCUS on the happy, fun, festive, joyful parts of life. It reminds me to do the same. And it encourages me that maybe this will be FUN, even beautiful sometimes. So thank you. Your energy is very comforting to this mommy-to-be.

  34. Hi there! I just wondered if you ever thought about turning your chalkboard art into personalized photo greeting cards. I just had a vision of one of your etsy prints with a black and white photo of my daughter and immediately wanted that as my New Year's greeting card! If you ever do, I'll be the first to purchase them! :)

  36. HI! I've been trying to find a post where you mention what you do for your job job. I know you have an etsy shop among all the other ridiculously creative stuff you do, but what do you do that allows you to work from home (I think it's also creative)? I need a new job so I can be home with my babe. I remembering seeing it somewhere, just can't recall where. Thanks for your response... nothing serious, just pondering. :)

  37. Hi Jessica, I came across a baby line today that totally reminded me of you it had the cutest diapers that were so girly that Harper came to mind. They sell everything from baby care items to cleaning products and it's all organic. But the diapers come in so many cute girly patterns and you get to choose what styles it made me think of you it's called The Honest Company by Jessica Alba. Please if you get time check it out I think you will totally love it!

  38. Hello! I stumbled across your blog from a picture on pinterest. I was searching fans for a nursery and wanted an "old school" metal type one, well a picture from your blog came up and I have been loving looking through all your posts on here! You inspire me to say the least!!! Your style is absolutely amazing, your home is beautiful and the same goes for you and your family! You're creative beyond belief and I hope to be able to use some of your ideas and make them work in our home! I am the mother of 2 little ones ages 3 1/2 and 18 months... they keep me busy! I just had to tell you how much I enjoy reading through your blog and I am so glad I stumbled across it! : )

  39. Hello Family Garvin! I've been following along with your guys' adventures for a long time now, and I love checking in to see how you're doing :) You guys are a beautiful family, and it gives me hope and excitement to think about starting my own family soon.
On another note, Jessica, I was wondering if there's a way for me to quickly find all your posts about fitness and health...? I know I've read them before but I can't remember when, or where to find them in the archive. I really admire your commitment to being fit and keeping in shape, even though you hate to exercise so much—I totally feel you on that! But I'm really trying to get myself back on the healthy wagon, and remember you had some good things to say about at-home workouts and such.
I hope this isn't too huge of a request! Thank you :)

  47. Hi, I am new to this whole blogging thing and am in need of some major help, well I consider it major help but probably very simple for you. I really would appreciate your advice and suggestions. My first question is your layout, is this something you picked from blogger or do have a better place that offers layouts? I won't even get into the more detailed about the colors etc. My second question, which I just can’t figure out and it tremendously aggravates me, is the collages with the numbers &/or links posted with them. I know it’s probably something very simple, but I can’t figure out how to do it or how you get all the pictures to have a white background and links to match up with them? One example of what I am talking about is this one of yours,http://littlebabygarvin.blogspot.com/2015/02/for-easter-basket.html . I will start with these two questions as they are my top two. I really hope you can help and please feel free to suggest or add in any other pointers or suggestions. I wish someone would seriously come up with a youtube blogging 101 in detail. I think you would be a great candidate.

    With much appreciation,

    Embarrassed Newbie
