Wife to Brandon. Momma to Harper. Blogger, Baker & Chalkboard Maker. Love entertaining, design, fashion, cocktails, decorating & eves of
holidays.
In 2011, we were relocated to Georgia with my husband's company. All I could think of? Bring on the SEASONS! I couldn't wait to have Fall again. Shortly after our move, our world changed when we found out there was a bun in the oven. This is how Little Baby Garvin began. I started this blog to document my journey through pregnancy via my obsession with chalkboards. I became this girl....
If you'd like to start reading from the beginning, you can find the first page here!
Harper Eve was born on February 15th, 2012. Nothing could have prepared me for the overwhelming love & happiness that came along with her. She is the light of our lives & the star of this blog. Now I am documenting my journey as a new mom (cocktails & curse words included) & all of the amazing adventures that come along with it.
Some additional very important details...
1. Harper's middle name, Eve, came from my love of Eves of holidays... although I'm sure you could have figured that out by now. My husband actually came up with the name Harper! (just one of many reasons that I love him).
2. I have four brothers, I am the oldest & only girl. My family is the most fun ever & the reason behind me wanting to have a big family of my own.
3. I don't like to have matching coffee cups or towels... I think it's more fun when you get to pick out which one you want to use each day :)
4. My favorite outfit would involve sequins, rainboots & dark nail polish.
5. Toast is one of my favorite foods, so underrated.
6. I used to want to be a mermaid when I grow up.
7. Country music is my favorite. Especially when I'm wearing cowboy boots.
8. We are die hard Iowa Hawkeye fans... football season is my favorite time of the year!
9. I watch Hocus Pocus at least twenty times per year. It is my favorite
movie ever... reminds me of my childhood & puts me in the best mood
ever.
10. My motto in life.... "I just wanna do fun stuff."

ReplyDeleteSince I've been following you from pretty much the start, I have to say Thankyou for always making me laugh. Its nice having a cyber friend/mom to help me from feeling like I'm not alone in the new journey of baby! Jack is about 2.5 months younger than Harper. All your tips and product info is great!! And you blog how you speak in life I am sure ... And I love it!! All your references to movies (meow!) crack me up!!! Keep up the good work!!!
ReplyDeleteI was wondering... Are you still breastfeeding, pumping, or have you gone to formula? I'm undecided on what to do. I'm currently breastfeeding/pumping at work and its hard. Jack is almost 6 months. Just started on oatmeal and using the baby bullet for fruits.
Thanks!! :)
Heather

I've been reading you since I saw the first thing on pinterest, and then a few short weeks after reading your first post, I found out I was pregnant. I was going to do the chalkboard thing inspired by you, but then time slipped away from me, and things were crazy! I love reading your blog, so keep going please!! Your little Harper is so adorable. She is just a few months ahead of my little cutie pie. Love the blog and the new design! --Sharon

Just came across your blog... and HELLO!!! GO HAWKS!! I live in Iowa and a huge Hawkeye fan. Alot of my friends graduated from Iowa (I went to Central College) so I'm sure we know some of the same people! Small world :)
ReplyDeleteJust finding your great blog.
ReplyDeleteDigs Holiday Eve Hooplah, understands the importance of underscoring points with a curse and digs cooking but YES-sometimes it's such a chore to choose exactly WHAT to cook!
I was thinking that you sounded like a Midwestern flavored version of my friends and myself (I'm from Brooklyn).
I'm due with Baby number 1 (unknown gender) on 12 February. Let's see when this babe happens to show. Meanwhile I'll be following your great musings!
Thanks!!
Lou

As I have become an avid reader of your blog, I want to thank you for starting it and continuing your writing. The entire thing shows your dedication to being a fantastic mother, and also so generous for helping other out there. I am currently just starting to try for our first with my husband, and so elated about finding your blog. Thank you again for continuing this blog and sharing with the world your daughter, family, and passion for being a loving mother & wife.
ReplyDeleteWhat did you get your degree in?
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your passion as a mother and wife! I am as well a first time mother to an 11 month old and am soo in love with the man I call my husband! I can feel your sincerity through each blog post.
ReplyDeleteHello! I hope it's ok but I featured your website and etsy link on my site muffinsandmocha.com . I think this is the cutest website with so many amazing baby ideas! I just say Harpers play room makes me want a tent with lights! Really creative. Keep up the good work. ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU for being real about curse words being part of life ;) hubby and I try lol but they just slip out ;)
ReplyDeleteI recently found your blog and am just LOVING it! I have a little boy who's 2 and am due with a little girl any day now. I have to tell you that my wallet is now on lockdown because of all of the cute little things that MIss Harper models and then I feel like I have to have for our new addition to be. I just finally had to comment when I read the bit about watching Hocus Pocus. Everyone thinks I am so weird, but come October, that DVD is always on in the background around our house. There's no other movie that gets me more excited for fall and Halloween than some good ol' Disney Hocus Pocus. I was pretty sure I was the only person in America that still found joy from that movie all these years later... but thanks for nerding out along with me. Ha!
ReplyDeleteCan I just say how badly I want to be a mermaid too?! ...the closet I got was halloween a few years back!
ReplyDeleteI have been reading your blog since you were pregnant and I love it! I think it is so neat that you have four younger brothers. I have a daughter and three boys and she is the oldest. I think it is cool but she is not yet convinced that being the oldest with 4 younger brothers can be fun...I am trying my hardest to convince her though.
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog from a comment on another baby blog. I love it! You're so down to earth and real, and that is so appreciated. Like an "every-mom" so to speak. So many out there are all "holier than thou" and it's exhausting. Your blog is a breath of fresh air! I definitely plan to be a follower. And your daughter is adorable! I have a girl (born 3/24/12) so it's always fun to read about a little one around the same age. Keep up the great work!
