37 Weeks

Week 37 has been pretty eventful for us! I went in for my routine OB appointment late last week & they told us that the baby was measuring small for the second week in a row, so I would need to have an ultrasound. Without going into too much detail, there are just some minor complications from my previous c-section, but baby girl looked good & the tech estimated that she already weighs 6 lbs. 5 oz. So exciting to think about!! They told us we may have her sooner than my initially scheduled c-section date, which totally has me on pins & needles, very impatiently waiting. But, we kept busy of course, Harper woke up sick Saturday morning with a cough & high fever. Poor girl was miserable, we spent most of the weekend snuggling on the couch while tackling some house projects since the weather was nice. Happy to report that she is finally feeling like herself again this morning & today's ultrasound looked good, so now we just play the waiting game. Soooo excited for her arrival!!

How far along: 37 weeks
Gender: Girl
Weight gain: 30 lbs.
Maternity clothes: Maxi dress season is upon us & it is glorious.
Stretch marks: No
Belly button in or out: Out (and made an appearance in this week's picture apparently)
Sleep: Sleeping great, surprisingly.
Best moment this week: Seeing the babe at our ultrasound, watching her move around & feeling her kick at the same time just make me so excited. Harper was hoping we would be watching Nemo when we went into the room with the big screen, but was not let down when she got to see "baby sissy's heart!"
Miss anything: This week I am getting a taste of what it will be like to not lift Harper or overdo it, which is really hard & I am not looking forward to that post c-section. Ready to feel like myself again for sure, but I know I will miss feeling the baby when she is here too. Also, I can't help but miss an icy cold beer on the patio in this beautiful Spring weather.
Movement: Lots of shifting around, baby girl has definitely dropped but never fails to kick me right in the lungs every so often.
Cravings: All things sweet or sour! Apples, lemon, orange juice with pineapple, etc. I will be sad when food doesn't taste as good once the baby is here, snacks are always a little highlight of my day! ;)
Looking forward to: Baby day!! Can not wait to have her in my arms!

  2. Looking gorgeous! So excited for you all! Can you please tell me what strapless bras you have found that are comfortable to wear while preggo AND picking up and chasing around a toddler?? I've given up sleeveless everything in favor of comfy bras, but would love to get into some cute dresses like you!

    2. I had the same question about the complications from your last c-section.. i would love to talk to my dr about it at my next visit. i had an emergency c-section 17 months ago and i am 16 weeks pregnant now.. they were not very informative with what comes along with a c-section so i have always been in the dark and i am scared for my next one. i totally understand if you dont feel like sharing, so dont feel like you have to. just thought i would ask.. glad Harper is feeling better and i cant wait to meet your beauitful girl through pictures. you look AWESOME! xo

  9. Hope all goes well with the delivery! I'm sure everything will turn out just fine : ) .

If you don't mind going into more detail about the complications in the future, I'd find it really helpful. I had an emergency c-section with my first and I'm already nervous about how the pregnancy and delivery will go when we have a second child because of it!

  13. Gorgeous! I am so excited for you all. If you don't mind me asking, where do you find strapless bras that are comfy while preggo AND chasing/ picking up a toddler? I have been avoiding all things sleeveless in favor of comfortable bras, but I would love to get into cute maxi dresses like you!

  16. SO EXCITED FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!! I had Collin 3 weeks early and he was totally "cooked" and ready to be out with his family! I hope Harper is feeling better, sometimes I swear they get sick just so that they can snuggle, which was exactly what you all needed this weekend!!!!

  17. My little guy is five weeks old, and by far the hardest part of having him was not being able to care for my 18-month-old for two weeks! I had a c-section, too, and had more melt downs than I'd care to admit over not being able to lift her or even change her, feed her, etc. Luckily I had my hubby home for two weeks, but it was still hard. Just know that it's completely normal to feel guilty and sad for Harper but that it will pass. I'm home with the two of them on my own now, and I've never been happier. We definitely have our moments but I love it.

  27. You look gorgeous in that blue maxi! Just 3 more weeks mamma (or less!). Hang in there! And don't fret over the size of baby. I actually had the opposite situation: they told me baby was going to be atleast 9 lbs and he ended up being 7 lbs 9 oz, a whole lb less than my other son, b/c I had so much amniotic fluid due to unknown idiopathic reasons. And also don't fret on your csection. I was freaking out about mine (not that you are) b/c of my prior experience (that whole story is on my blog under pumping and nursing post btw). Turns out the actual surgery went pretty well this time, it was the recovery the second time around that was difficult. But everyone is different and I've heard other moms say it's a breeze. In any case, you will do great and baby girl will be in your arms before you know it (along with a brewski). Now go get some sleep!

  29. Glad to hear all is well and everyone is healthy! Would you mind expanding on the comications in the future? I had an emergency csection and I'm wondering if I should be worried about anything. I'm going to have to have a csection again if/when we have our second child. Thanks!

  39. You look radiant! Sending prayers these last few weeks of your pregnancy and to a life with two! My son is one month older than Harper and my other kidlet is 5 months. As a mommy who had two c-sections, hugs to you! The first few weeks are hard but we had a "magic" blanket and a cuddle corner on the couch where he had to climb up like a kitty to snuggle in, since I couldn't pick him up. Best of luck! Looking forward to hearing about baby girls arrival!
