Harpie Doodle on Video

Sunday, January 13, 2013

Ready for some H-Bomb cuteness overload? Here are a few of my favorite videos that we have taken in the last few weeks.

Here is our video of Harper's first steps!! I still can't believe we got it on video, but we knew the sweatshirt zipper would get her little wheels going! :) Please excuse my husband's paint stained gym shorts at the end.

Owl Sweater One Piece

I took this video on Christmas night after I finished feeding her before bed. She was being so sweet & had the cutest laugh. I also love the milk mouth! :)

Striped Fleece Pajamas

This one cracks me up... Harper was so tired & getting grumpy before bed. But she can't help but dance when here elephant toy music starts playing.

Drop Seat Red Pajamas

Now it's time for me to ask you all a question. When did your kiddos start to give you kisses? Harper whips her head around so fast when we try to kiss her lips, she HATES it. She shrieks. She barks. She growls like a zombie. I cannot figure out how to get her to give kisses & it drives me bonkers! Any ideas? Maybe she's still too young? Or maybe I'm just crazy. All I want is a big, wet baby smooch!

How FUN to see videos of your precious babe! LOVE her dancing! My little girl started giving me kisses around 8 months, it is a full on open mouth sloppy wet kiss and she will do it over and over and over all over my face! She still doesn't give daddy kisses though (prob bc of his face prickers.) I also taught her how to blow kisses, which is adorable. Harper will get it! We failed the "Can your child wave goodbye, Can your child play peek-a-boo" milestones at the 9 month dr visit but who really cares, right?!? Thanks for sharing the videos!!!

Ah! So jealous of the open mouth sloppy kisses! Harper has no interest in peek-a-boo either, but she is a waving machine. Although she waves at herself, not facing others, but oh well! :)

SO CUTE. Emmalyne has been giving me kisses since she was 10 months old. Huge, wet, slobbery kisses. She'll grab my face and hold it to her lips going "ahhhh" haha.

I started getting "kisses" around 7months. She'll stick her open mouth on my cheek and just hold it there then pull away and smile, it's adorable. I will say "Mommy give Ashlynn kiss" and kiss her cheek and then ask "Ashlynn given mommy kiss?" and sorta shove my cheek towards her lips... sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. So far she'll only do it to me, but my husband has scruff, so maybe its too scratchy for her lips.

Love the vids! A is obsessed with hoodie zippers too, I'l have to remember that trick ;)

I may need another phone just to store all the vidoes I take of my little girl. Harper dancing is too cute, like I really don't wanna dance but I just can't resist that elephant! hahaha.

The dancing one CRACKS me up!! She just can't help herself but do a little jig! And Ethan is always giving me big sloppy open mouth "kisses" but I think it's more of a "I'm trying to feel you with my mouth" than a kiss. Can't wait for more intention on that one! ;)

omg, she's absolutely precious!! my daughter is 2 and a half now, and FOREVER she would kiss us with her mouth open (which was precious, but i wanted a smooch!) & one day i think she just realized she was kissing us different than we kissed her lol. she would jus sit there with her mouth open & wait until you came up and kissed her lol. don't worry, she'll get there. the biggest thing i've learned since becoming a mommy is not to compare, because aurora is advanced in so many things, but then there's things that other kids (kids who - and yes, i was wrong for doing this but i think every parent does this! - i thought she was more advanced than) could do before her. just enjoy every bit of her & film, film, film because they grow up soooo fast! your videos make me miss my lil baby aurora lol. you, your hubby, & baby remind me of my fiancé & i with our daughter! if you didn't live in another state, i'd invite you guys over for dinner, lol. keep blogging!

my daughter is 9 months and she has been kissing now for almost a month. I literally just kept showing her mommy's eyes, mommy's nose, mommy's mouth and after mouth i would say kiss and smack my lips. Then one day she leaned in and opened her mouth for kisses! I just kept that up for the longest time! Good luck it's the best to get kisses from your little one! :)

Adorable videos! Both of my twin girls started giving kisses around 6 months (just turned 11 months today!) but now it's rare to get a nice, sloppy, open-mouthed kiss. They have started to turn away now and only give it up if they are feeling really affectionate.

I'm just dying over the dancing... That is seriously the cutest little bobbing I've ever seen! So, to answer your question, all tree of my babies were giving kisses at 6-8 months. My third and youngest (10 months) was giving kisses, waving/saying hi and bye by 7 months BUT she won't dance like Harper does! She will shake her hands and clap to music but she doesn't actually move her body. Every baby is different and you'll even notice that your future babies will have totally different milestones! My first was running by 10 months, middle baby by 14 months, and my youngest is just standing at 10 months... They're all different! :)

Love those cute videos! Must just be part of her own silly personality because my 9 month old has been kissing us for around a month or so. We just say "Give mommy a kiss" Or "Give daddy a kiss" and 90% of the time he will, other times he turns his head and laughs. He even kisses people in magazines and books! I love it! She will in her own time, she just sounds stubborn. She's adorable!

My son starting kissing when he was 7 months but it is always on his terms. If you ask for it, he'll just turn his head away. But when he's happy, he will cover you with kisses. He even kisses the phone when he hears someone he knows on the other end. It's still the open mouthed slobbery kisses. We'll see how long it takes him to realize his mouth should be closed! Every baby's different so I'm sure Harper will deliver those kisses when she's ready to dole out some serious mama love :)

As for the kissing...Well my son started at around 6 months. I would say "Kiss, kiss, kiss!" and make a kiss sound and give him a kiss. He soon started to give me a kiss instead. Sometimes he doesn't want kisses and sometimes he won't give them. Which is ok. I respect that it is his body to give and receive kisses as he wants. Also, he will only kiss me. =) No one else. lol. It's a nice big, open mouthed kiss that usually ends up all over my cheek, chin, or covering my whole mouth. Slobbery. MMM. <3 me some baby kisses.
I think if you make it more of a fun game, than a forced action then it comes.

She hasn't seemed to mind and I think she has the hang of it because some days (when she is in the mood, of course), she'll actually turn towards me and give me a kiss when I ask for it. It's a full on, open mouth slobberfest, but I still love it! Just keep talking to her/letting her know what you're doing and she'll get the hang of it soon! :)

Parker have kisses around 9 - 10 months I think. I started by holding stuffed animals in front of him and saying "give it a kiss!" And then I would make the stuffed animal give him a "kiss." Eventually he figured out the game and when I would tell him to give it a kiss he would lean in. A little while later he would do the same to people. They are always open mouth a sloppy but that's ok. He also hardly gives unsolicited kisses we usually always have to ask. And cute videos!!!!

My daughter is 17 months old and she has been kissing for 2-3 months now. She will make the mmmmm noise and come in and plant a kiss right on your lips. Although, my friend's baby was giving kisses before she was a year old. I guess it varies from baby to babyb. Just keep asking for kisses and one day she'll get it. Or even if she sees you kiss your husband, she might try to do the same. I think that's how we got our little one to give little smooches. Good luck, keep us posted!

Holy cuteness overload! I can't get our daughter to dance quite yet, but the kisses (open mouth and slobbery) started around 8 months. She now gives daddy about 30 kisses from the time he gets home from work until bed. I get a few kisses throughout the day but we worked on giving her tons of kisses and saying "kisses!" While we did it so she would know the word.

My little one is giving "selective" kisses now, at 6-1/2 months. He knows what "give mama kisses" means but he chooses when he actually gives in. When he does cave, they are full open-mouth slobbery kisses - THE BEST!!

I have 4 kids and all 3 of my boys kissed around 7 months. Ramsey on the other hand (my youngest and only girl) took forever. I think around 16 months maybe and even then it was like pulling teeth. She would if I asked for one from her brothers after being rejected by her though. I also would act sad when she turned me down which sometimes worked (bad parenting I know but what's a momma to do). Take heart though, she is three now and can't stop giving kisses to anyone......hmmmm, maybe I should be worried!!!

  59. JenealeJanuary 17, 2013 at 2:51 PM

My husband was actually the one that got our little Adaline to give kisses. He started it kind of as a game and would hold her facing him and would say "kisses!" and pull her in and kiss her lips then would make a loud "MMUUUAAAAHHHHH!" sound that'd make her laugh so she liked it, then I would sit by them and he'd turn to me and say "kisses!" and we'd kiss and it kind of made her want more kisses for herself and so after a week or so she'd start leaning in herself for kisses and the game part of it has since faded and she just gives kisses when you ask for them. They're the sweetest cutest kisses so I hope Harper will catch on soon! I love reading your blog and all your home and baby ideas, especially since my little one is only about a month younger than Harper so its fun to see the similarities and differences between them.
