Birthday Party Planning & Dance Moves

Monday, January 21, 2013

Ahh, the party that I have been planning in my mind for over a year now is finally just a few weeks away! I'm excited to share some of the details that we have picked out! I decided that "birthday" is theme enough, so we will be sticking with just a color scheme of pinks & golds.

sources to individual images can be found here.

You all know by now that I would do nothing short of painting my walls pink & gold to match the party theme... (as I casually look around the living room thinking that maybe I should actually do it) but the plan is to stick with lots of balloons, streamers & garlands for the decor. Cupcakes, cotton candy & a popcorn bar will be some of the goodies on the menu. Also, a kick ass pink ombre smash cake.

This is also appropriate. Of COURSE there will be cocktails.

There will probably also be tailgating. Now I just need to get my shit together & finish her invitations on time so we will actually have party guests! :)

Harper the-almost-one-year-old has been getting pretty excited for her birthday party as well. She is practicing her walking & dance skills for the big day.

These two videos seriously kill us. This kid cannot contain herself when music comes on. She HAS to dance. Sometimes if she is grumpy or tired (like in this first video) she just gets her wiggle on. Other times, she will totally bust a move, arms up & all.  I have watched these videos a hundred times & can't. stop. laughing.

And when she's not being the silliest & wildest child around... I sometimes get some extra adorable pictures of her like this.

Leggings, Bow, Sweater Dress from Old Navy last season (similar here)

Also, for the record, still no kisses. But she is an expert head-butter & eye poker. Still love her to pieces.

Can't wait to see pictures from her party! It sounds like so much fun. My husband just leaned over to read the caption about alcohol at the party and agreed that it will be a necessity once we get there! lol

on pinterest i saw an idea of tying balloons with tulle instead of ribbons. also making a table skirt out of a disposable table cloth - both super cute. also, how do you make your photo collages?

I always go way too extravagant for my birthday parties, too. I generally start planning 6 months out. My Harper had a pirate 1st birthday, dinosaur 2nd, and Willy Wonka 3rd. None of which were 'parties in a bag'. Mostly color schemes with a few pieces thrown in - and food names were all to the theme.
I'm planning my baby's 1st birthday now, to be held in June. Bugs! Hobby Lobby has some fab spring stuff right now!
Glad I'm not alone in the party planning adventures.
I am considering that ecard to put in with some of my invites... Tailgating is a must!

I absolutely love your blog and follow you constantly! I recently started my own after I found out I am expecting. I have a few questions which I'm sure you get all the time so I apologize in advance! Do you like the glider you got? Is it comfortable still? I found a similar style at buy buy baby I liked.
also how do you add the links to pinterest and instagram on the sidebar?! I'm going crazy looking for those!

Love the colors and theme of Harper's first birthday! Can't wait to see how it goes!

Just had my daughter's first birthday party on Sunday with a pink ombre smash cake!! It came out awesome (patting myself on the back) but my Lily was super dainty and we didn't get a real smash oh well :) And she got a crazy sugar high and did the funniest dances. Happy almost birthday to gorgeous Harper!
