The 25 Days of Christmas continues... (holy shit, it's only day four?) with one of my favorite things about the holiday season. CHRISTMAS CARDS! I love getting funny, homemade photo cards in the mail. And of course, every year we try to think of something creative to do as well! :) What do you know, this wasn't even planned, but goes down in the books as one of our favorite Christmas cards ever!
Two years ago, we dressed in our Christmas Story themed attire for our annual Ugly Sweater/Christmas Costume party - which turned out to be a perfect photo op for our Christmas card. I think you can see Brandon's Christmas kitten sweater vest on beneath his cardboard box. And, if you must know, I think it's from the women's department in Kohls :)
Last year's photo, you may have already seen, was just from one of my baby bump pics. I had "30 Weeks" written on the board at the time, so I had to do some editing, since we weren't initially planning to use it as our Christmas card. This one is still on our fridge... I will forever love this picture since this was really the first one that Harper was in.
I also found this gem on pinterest (go figure..)
...which much to my surprise, our picture was on the list!
The best part of Christmas cards this year... little Harpie Doodle!! She will be sure to rock some antlers & a tutu of some sort! :) I can't wait to see all the fun Christmas cards that set pinterest on fire this holiday season! So tell me - what is your favorite card you've ever seen? If anyone has dressed up in metallic silver sweatsuits with a giant "I don't KNOW Margo" written across the front... please email it to me. this. instant.

I absolutely love the last card! At 34 weeks pregnant - I might just steal your idea. What program do you use to do your photo editing?

Erin, you could do this in photoshop or even powerpoint, however photoshop will save the photo at a higher resolution.. do you have that? what programs do you have?
DeleteThank you!I edited that picture in photoshop :)
DeleteI'm boring, because I love any Christmas card with a family picture. I especially love the pretty, traditional ones though since we display them. Your cards are adorable though! Very cute :)
ReplyDeletei LOVE your leg lamp outfit. has to be my fav christmas movie ever.
ReplyDeleteUmm where is your leg in the second picture!? I love the themed cards! Can't wait to start sending out my cards!
ReplyDeleteI guess I was feeling flexible that day - it is just up around my husband's back! :)
DeleteYour cards are great!!! Next year my hubby wants to rock Cousin Eddie emptying his RV contents outfit for our card lol Personally I love anything Griswold related (you've seen our Instagram house picture). In fact, hubby always calls me Margo and I call him Sparky hahaha. Keep up the good work sister, you make life fun!!! ;)
ReplyDeleteI was working with my aunt today (whose name is...wait for it...Margo!) and she kept asking the same question over and over...and I was SO tempted to say "I don't KNOW Margo!" But I knew that I would have been the only one that would have seen the humor in it, so I suppressed the urge. ::sigh::
ReplyDeleteShe must get that all the time during the holiday season! ;)
DeleteYou have the most fab ideas!! Look forward to your posts!! :)
ReplyDeleteWe planned to do that EXACT Christmas Vacation pose this year too! I just wasn't sure the crotch-grabbing would go over with everyone who hasn't seen the movie. We did however photoshop our faces onto the original Vacation movie cover and iron it onto t-shirts for a themed dance in college.
ReplyDeleteso creative, I have a soft spot for anything A Christmas Story related.. like Harper's onesie from visiting Santa, I died.
ReplyDeleteMy family really gets in to Christmas cards too!! Last year we did the classic ugly Christmas sweaters and the one of my sister/her husband/their dog and the one of my brother were featured on the ABC World News. It was quite a card. Haha! ReplyDeleteThat is some Ugly Sweater perfection!
DeleteSo creative! I can definitely appreciate a funny Christmas card in the mix - I get so sick of pictures of people's dogs in santa hats or the four page "christmas letter" - I'll take a junk grab any day! Clark W. Griswold would be proud. Love your blog!!!
ReplyDeleteSo happy you are posting every day! What a delight to find a bit of your christmas sprit in my inbox each morning. Thanks for helping me get into the holidays even more this year!!

ReplyDeleteAh! I finally found a gal that loves Christmas Vacation as much as I do! literally I quote it each day!
ReplyDeletePretty sure my family calls me aunt Bethany!
(not funny)
But love your Clark inspired Christmas Card! Hilarious!
I did the pretty-family pose christmas card....and yes, I regret it. I wanted to do--- Since my 5 month old girl Hadley likes to shit herself on us all.....
A pretty collage of her famous blowouts on us all and write:
Christmas is the shit.
but didn't think gramps/grams would find that appropriate.
oh well. Watch out next year, I'm thinking of it already:)
