After a looooooong 15 hour car ride, we arrived in Iowa to visit family. My best tip for long roadtrips with 10 month old babies? Don't do it. It's a shitshow. There's not enough Christmas music or holiday cheer to make this trip enjoyable.
I think by now, you all know that Harper Eve was named after my love of Eve's of holidays. So this Christmas Eve was even more special than ever.

So special that daddy decided to give her ice cream for the first time! It has been his life long dream to be the first person to feed ice cream to someone (I know, he is a strange cat) so this was a big moment for us all! What better place than at great grandma's house on Christmas Eve?

Our favorite Christmas Eve tradition takes place at the home of the most beautiful Christmas tree.

My best friend from high school & her beautiful family have us over for cookies & cocktails every Christmas Eve. It is even more fun now with our little babes! I was in Heaven with all of the festive fun happening... wish I could have just bottled it all up & kept it forever!

ReplyDeleteWe went on a 4 hour road trip when my daughter was about 11 months, and that was looong! I can't even imagine 15 hours. Suggestion, a portable DVD player that attatches to the headrest. One of our best investments. Car rides are now easy.

A tip for the ride? Do it overnight. It suck to drive through the night but just switch off every couple hours and pray she doesn't wake up when you stop for gas. It's how we got our 4.5 month old from NY to Atl and back without wanting to kill ourselves:)

ReplyDeleteUgh, I feel ya on the long drive. We drove from Texas to North Carolina for a beach vacay with my husband's 4 sisters, their families and his mom. It was so wonderful to all be together and have all the cousins meet our little Sadie, but sweet Lord, was that trip miseeable!! Especially on the way home when she lost her mind from being strapped in the car seat so long and we still had 8 hours to go!!! We had to stop every 5 seconds to give her a break and it took us foreverrrrrrrrrr to get home!!! The memories you make being with all of your family make it all worth it though! Hope your Christmas was the Merriest one yet!

ReplyDeleteI have traveled with a baby before NOT FUN!! Actually my kids are now 9, 6 and 2 and its STILL not fun!
We install a DVD system in our car best investment EVER spent!! We had our nay sayers but I don't care it keeps them quiet and entertained!! =)

ReplyDeleteHarper is always so well dressed! And I feel for you on the 15 hour drive. We made an 11 hour trip with our 5 month old earlier this month. The way there we drove straight through the night and he slept amazingly, but they way home was a different story - not a happy boy!
