I have some chalkboard news to share! :) Per the request of many, I am going to be making some of my chalkboards available to purchase as prints!
I have done some custom work for friends & a few customers, but finally will be moving forward with making more prints available in my etsy shop! I have some new designs, some will be sayings that could be hung in a nursery, others would be perfect hung in the kitchen and of course, we can't forget festive prints! I am still finalizing some sizing & print options (clearly you can see what I printed here didn't quite fit well in my odd sized ikea frame) but hope to have prints available by end of week!
I am going to be offering some MAJOR coupon codes to my blog readers, so stay tuned if you are interested! Also, if you have a saying that you'd love to see available, please feel free to contact me via the link at the top of my blog! :) If you have questions regarding my chalkboards, check out this post for my tutorial as well as this link for some FAQs that I have answered.
In other chalkboard news, I am also going to begin (hopefully a series!) of videos showing some start to finish chalkboards as I draw them! (This will likely include interruptions by Harper, lots of doodling & erasing as I go, as well as a possible beer and snack break, you will witness it all!). Unfortunately, I really don't have any tricks up my sleeve though, it really just has been a life long love of art & typography that allows me to do them... plus lots of practice. It is a work in progress, but I am super excited to share! Thank you all SO much for all of the sweet comments & feedback on the stuff I have done so far!
Moving on to the ever so important Boos & Booms of the week!
Boo to daylight savings time! It has officially turned my baby into monster. Her sleep schedule went out the window, I am now up at 6 am and playing "guess-the-naptime" all day. Tips or tricks to surviving this?
BOOM to christmas music! Hello Elf soundtrack for the next two months. Pennies from Heaven... shoe-bee-doo-bee!! :)

ReplyDeleteSometimes I read your posts and feel like kindred spirits! :) Our Elf soundtrack has been on repeat for a couple days too, who doesn't LOVE pennies from heaven? And we share your boo in this house. My son is exactly the same! Up at 6 and guessing when to nap :( I'm hoping someone comments with a helpful answer too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea!! Looking forward to seeing what you'll be offering! :)
ReplyDeleteYour love for the holiday season has made me much more proud of mine! Thank you so much! I'm currently listening to my Pandora Christmas Station and I baking/cooking/cleaning up a storm! :)

ReplyDeleteSaweet! I love love your chalk boards but my penmanship blows so I cannot wait to place some orders!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your prints! I too am rocking the Christmas music already though mine is classic Frank Sinatra.
ReplyDeleteTo transition Claire through the time change I kept her up an hour later then when she wakes up a little early I don't get her up till I normally would. Been a pretty smooth transition.
Love! I'm so excited for all of this!
ReplyDeleteOhhh!! I would love to hear any tips about daylight savings time!! This has been a hard adjustment for my little guy (just turned 9 months) as well....up an hour earlier and trying to figure out when to put him down for his naps. Keep him up till the usual time of 10ish or an hour earlier? Then they never adjust either....*sigh*. I miss "sleeping in" till 7:30.
ReplyDeleteAlthough, I am looking forward to a chalkboard video!
Amanda
Turning the clocks back totally screwed up my baby's schedule too! That plus a major growth spurt :P yikes! I love your chalkboard and made one myself to document my own pregnancy. I'm really looking forward to your video series as I'm always in awe of your beautiful lettering. Keep up the good work! You and Harper are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteTurning back the clocks totally messed up my baby's schedule too! That and a major growth spurt :P Yikes!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your video series. I made a chalkboard to document my pregnancy after finding your tutorial on Pinterest and always find your beautiful typography inspiring.

ReplyDeleteSo excited to see your prints and super excited to see your video blogs :)
ReplyDeleteYay! What a great idea!!! I also have nothing but "issues" with those ikea frames!!! So frustrating! Love me some ikea but .... Oh well! Can't wait for the etsy prints (ESP since I suck in the chalkboard category)! Thanks for all the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteYay for your prints! Making a chalkboard is on my to-do list. The prints will be a short cut until I get around to it. On a side note, try putting the print on top of the mat but under the glass in the ikea frame for a reverse mat effect. Great way to use frames you have when the picture doesn't fit!
ReplyDeleteSo VERY excited to purchase some original JG work!!! Woohoo! And the videos - it may put me over the edge with glee!!! A nice gift to all for the holidays!!! :) can't wait to watch.
ReplyDeleteAs for the time change - messed us up too. Tried to tire out Jack throughout the day and keep him up a little later (by 10/15 min increments) the past couple of nights and that helped. As for naps, we are still a little screwed up but I hope to regulate that by the weekend. Good luck!!
I want every.single.print. Sign me up for the auto-purchase plan please. ;) I need tis the season on my walls NOW! Lovvvve this blog so much. It still blows my mind that a short 2 years ago (??!) we were whipping up announcements for Brecker the Wrecker, and daydreaming about your someday baby! Ahhh, makes it all the more sweet to follow. And lastly, it will be weird to hear your voice?! Please cuss just once. ;)
ReplyDeleteAwesome! That's great news, can't wait for the prints and videos!
ReplyDeleteI'm a graphic design student and I love typography. your chalkboards are AWESOME (and you're family is adorable too, I hope one day mine is that cute). I cannot wait to see your videos!

ReplyDeleteYayy! So excited for this..Also, I have been following your blog for awhile and just recently have decided that YES, I am 22 and have zero babies and I'm not ashamed :)!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is so exciting!!! You are so talented! I can't wait to see the videos and be able to buy the cute chalkboard designs!!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for the chalkboard videos!!! We hate daylight saving too! My littlest guy is 2 1/2 and it has thrown off his awesome sleep schedule :( But my only advice is keep naps/bedtime the same and she will slowly adjust. She might be extra crabby/tired and if she is super miserable b/c she got up at 6 (b/c it's really seven) and usually goes down at 9:30 for a nap you could always put her down at 9:00 and push it a little each day until you get back to 9:30. That is what has worked for me...hope it helps a little!
ReplyDeleteI have 2 fave quotes I would love to see as prints! :
ReplyDelete- home is wherever I'm with you

ReplyDeleteHey There,
ReplyDeleteI continue to love your blog and watching your little family grow! Congratuations on the new project. I have an idea for you as well--I know I personally would love to have one frame in my house (I can already see where I'd place it :)) where I kept a print consistantly all year and changed them out for different seasons/events. what if you sold a "year-round of cheer" set? (Or something with a catchier/less annoying title!) It would be great to have a frame with a little stash that could update the look year round with your beuatiful prints. Just a thought. Best of luck!
Yes, please someone give some advice on what to do with a baby and setting the clocks back. Baby S and I are so tired. Ithought if I kept him up longer on Sunday night (by grocery shopping) thinking he'd be super tired and 'sleep in' a.k.a. Stay on the regular schedule. But that did NOT work. All I've been doing so far is trying to get him back on schedule as easily as possible. If he doesn't want to nap at his usual time, I make sure it's slow down and be quieter time rather than play and wear him out time. Hope it's working.
ReplyDeleteLove your chalkboards. Can't wait to see the prints to purchase.
I'm with you on the daylight saving time booo! hate it!
ReplyDeletebut yay! for the holiday music!

Oh I cannot wait! I definately am going to order some for my desk at work :)

ReplyDeleteYes yes yes! I have been obsessed with your chalkboards since before I even started blogging. You are actually one of the first people to start the domino effect of me deciding to start my own blog. I have been scouring Goodwill and Salvation Army for a year now searching for the perfect painting to make my own with zero luck. So now it's time to have crafty dad make me one :) Cant wait to see the tutorial videos!

ReplyDeleteYay! I'm so excited for your chalkboard tutorials and prints! You have completely inspired me. My husband and I are currently building a house outside Atlanta and I can't wait to have a big chalkboard.
ReplyDeletewhere can I find your Etsy shop? :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is VERY exciting! I love your typography on the chalkboard. I think a great verse for a fun chalkboard would be like the print you have in Harper's nursery about the bird and the french fry. I can imagine a cute drawn bird by the artist herself. I can't wait to buy these!
ReplyDeleteThe tutorials are REALLY going to be handy because my cousin and I were just gifted SLATE chalkboards from an old school that was being torn down... BOOM! :)
