Welcome to our new house! I got to take all of these pictures during our inspection last week.. so so so excited to move in! Here is my favorite room of the house, the two story family room with stunning views of the green back yard! We are unsure about the tile floor.. while I would love to run the same wood floors throughout.. it seems like a shame to get rid of these. We are debating as to whether to just get a large rug or ditch them all together.
White cabinets + Brick = LOVE!
Faux Greenery.. not so much.
Excited for breakfast nook possibilities!

This is the view from the family room looking down the hall to the entryway and formal living room.

Here is the master. Husband and I are currently fighting over ceiling fan vs. chandelier. I'll let you guess who wants which.
Looking into the formal dining room, which is connected to the formal living room. What on EARTH do you even put in a formal living room? This should be fun.
Looking into the family room from the kitchen. Yay for those built ins!! Although, they have lizard knobs on the bottom two cabinets. Any takers? :)

The entry looking out the two-doors-are-better-than-one. This might be my most favorite thing ever. Can't wait to hang a chandelier in here too!!
AND here is the room that will become my office & Harper's playroom. Big plans for this room. Again, that boring light fixture has got to go.
Hope you've enjoyed the tour! Excited to share more of our journey when we move in two weeks!!

BEAUTIFUL HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think you should do a LARGE rug, one of those really soft fluffy ones, like the one you have in Harper's room in the living room, keep the tile, it makes it original. AND I live in Georgia too, I hope I deliver at the same hospital as you, it seems like you had an awesome experience, and i'm only 20, with my first pregnancy and i'm due in 3 months, so NERVOUS!!
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous, that is such a gorgeous home! Funny that you say you don't know what to do with a formal living room and that was one of the top things I looked for when we were house hunting! I love having formal spaces. Your home has got so many things that I hope to add to the "fixer upper" we're hoping to buy. Lucky for you that you already have it done! Can't wait to see what you do with the place! :)
ReplyDeleteYour new home is gorgeous! I especially love the brick and built-ins also. congratulations and I hope you have sooo much fun making it your own :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous home! I really love that exposed brick and the two story living room - such a perfect place, I'm so jealous! :P

Wow! Your house is stunning! I love everything about it!!
ReplyDeleteWow what a beautiful home, congrats! You mean you don't wanna keep the boob light? Ya i'm not a huge fan of them either!
ReplyDeleteI'm seriously in love with this house! The brick walls and wooden floors? Perfect!
ReplyDeleteLovely house! Can't wait to see you put your stamp on each part of it too. Our house came with the same light fixtures as yours has. A good reason to switch them is that the look like boobs. At least that's what we thought they looked like! HA! Hope this helps you win the argument! :)
ReplyDeleteOh your home is absolutely beautiful! Congratulations! I bet you are thrilled.

BEAAAUTIFULLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!! I just LOVE IT! I agree with a giant rug in the living room, maybe some wood down the line. I just LOVE Georgia, the south is amazing, you get SO MUCH for your money! We are moving from San Diego to Arkansas, and I am loving all the possibilities! We are also always fighting over chandelier vs ceiling fan, but I understand both sides! Ceiling fans are so much more practical for our brutal southern summers, yet chandeliers are just SO pretty!

Yay!! I've been hanging out for these pics!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful family home you have, I can't wait to see all the things you do with it :)
Love your house! Can't wait to see it when it's complete! My parents have a formal living room in their house and they have a nice sofa, loveseat, and chair and piano in theirs.
ReplyDeletethat tile is divine- rug all the way!!
ReplyDeleteand ICK to the ceiling fan, does not flow at all with the room!
I also think you should use the formal living area as a library/reading nook! with the right colors and build-ins, it would be a great addition(when does one actually ever sit on the fancy love seat?!)

Hey Jessica,
ReplyDeletecongrats on the house. May I just suggest an idea for the formal living area.. a settee sofa or two, maybe a chaise near a window (urban outfitters has some epic ones in fun colors) and some wing back style chairs (overstock.com is the place to search for chairs and rungs plus free shipping!) Just position them in a conversational setting since typically a TV is not in a formal setting. ALSO, a bold print accent pillow against a subtle color piece of furniture is always a good palate idea (plus if you are anything like me you switch out pillows to match the seasons/holidays). A great book for reference is the Domino book of decorating. Good luck & hope my ideas were helpful.
Congratulations. What a lovely home. With lots of rooms. I'm sure you will be one busy lady decorating :) I say go with a ceiling fan in the room. It will be wonderful those hot days. And I vote on keeping the tiles for now and just adding a nice carpet. You still have many many years to come for changes ;)
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Love the house and happy decorating! Can't wait to see what you do to it. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous house! We have some built-ins too, they are the best. You're going to have so much fun decorating! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteso beautiful!

wow its gorgeous Jess!! :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Roberta ;)
How exciting, I can't wait until we are able to buy our first home. I love the white kitchen cabinets. That brick wall is very cool. LOVE LOVE LOVE all the windows! You are going to have fun decorating!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new house! It's SO beautiful! I really like how unique it is from most homes I'm used to seeing! I love the brick work and the interesting layout. Your den/playroom is soo spacious and nice! I love it!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely breathtaking! I LOVE the flooring in the family room, I'm begging you to keep it. I second getting a big fluffy rug for the room. It's nice to have when they are little. Then when Harper (and any other little baby Garvins) are older, you can take it out and have the beautiful original flooring again.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I had a best friend growing up who lived in a similar house and her parent's had a formal living room as well. They called it the 'parlor' and they had a GORGEOUS loveseat and wingback chair with a coffee table, a bookshelf and a grand piano in the center. HAVE FUN decorating, I can't wait to see it evolve!

Congrats on the house! It looks amazing! I'm sure that you will have a lot of fun decorating it! Can't wait to see the pictures as you guys progress through it :]
ReplyDeleteCheck out www.housetweaking.com for a good compromise on the fan/chandelier. I did her fandelier from their old master bedroom in our master and love it. Best of both worlds. Beautiful house! Congrats.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great house! My husband and I live in an apartment about the size of your first one - about 550 square feet - in NYC. So we have visitors from Georgia (where I'm from) every couple of months at least! Can't wait to get to the stage you're at now. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh my, the brick is amazing! One of my friends has been speaking about adding some brick to parts of her house and I am sending her the link to this asap!

Gorgeous house, thanks for the tour! Can't wait to see what you do with the decor :) We have hardwood in every room, both floors, except the bathrooms are tile and basement is berber carpet. I love having the hardwood throughout, definitely softer than tile, but a giant area rug would look divine in there as well. We have a large area rug in the family room and love it. I'm sure you're so excited to move in!!
ReplyDeleteleave the tile floors, they're beautiful. wood is beautiful too but nothing special these days!
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful house!! Can't wait to see how you decorate. Congrats!! Such an exciting time.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!! Owning a home and making it your own is one of the best feelings and senses of accomplishment :) I'm so excited to see the transformations y'all make! I live in military housing, and can't change a thing, so I'm living vicariously through you lol
ReplyDeleteSO beautiful!! :)
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS on the new house!!! YAY!!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new house!!
ReplyDeleteYour daughter is adorable!! I don't remember how I found your blog, but I've peeked in periodically to see her. I felt a little connection (not in a weird, creepy way) because my first grandchild was due shortly after your daughter's due date. He was born 2/27/12.
gorgeous home!!! I love all the windows and natural light...congrats!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous home! Love all the natural light from the windows!! COngrats!
ReplyDeleteWhile reading an article on House Beautiful's website, I came across a wallpapering idea for built in bookshelves that I had to share with you. It would be such a fun addition of texture and boldness in your family room!
