Harper's First Holiday

Friday, March 23, 2012

You know I was excited for little Harpie's first holiday! We got her all decked out in green to celebrate St. Patrick's Day... all of the fun tuckered her right out! :)

Sorry for the lack of posts these days.. turns out having a newborn is pretty time consuming! We are currently dealing with what we think might be reflux. Our poor little girl spits up all the time & has lots of trouble sleeping. Therefore, mama doesn't get much sleep either. We are taking her to the doctor this week to hopefully get it all figured out. In the mean time, I hope to share my c-section details, hospital bag & post partum post with you all very soon. As well as my laundry list of "newborn must-haves" that I have been diligently taking notes on :) Happy Weekend to you all!!

Have you looked into a "Nap Nanny" to help with the reflux? I nanny for triplets and two of them had reflux. The parents bought these foam reclining seats. They keep the baby upright to help with reflux. They are 6 months old now and they still nap/play/eat in them they are awesome! I think you can get them at Babies R Us

Oh so sweet! You are a beautiful Mama :) So, from experience just know that almost 99% of babies have some sort of "tummy" issues, reflux/gas/troubles going poo, are super common and my ped always told me you have to remember their little systems are BRAND NEW they are getting used to everything and almost every every baby will grow out of these issues around 3mos or so. As far as sleep well thats what having a newborn is...no sleep! My son is 2.5 and still will wake up in the middle of night. It will always be something...when she grows out of her tummy issues, then she'll start teething and be up all night! Just life with a babe :)

She is beautiful and you look amazing! I'm not sure if you read "This Runner's Trials" (www.runnerstrials.com) but she is a running blogger who recently had a baby as well and he is a reflux-y baby. Unsure if that's helpful, but maybe she'd have tips since she's written a lot about it!

Elsie was born on February 17th. Only a couple days after Harper. I have had Elsie in her boppy newborn lounger for about two weeks. It helps with reflux, but also with congestion. Little E has been extremely congested since about 3 weeks. They only cost 30 dollars and worth every penny. Nap nannies are great, but on the expensive side. Oh, I also have the blog app on my phone and tend to blog when Elsie is sleeping in my arms. I also have a newborn must have list going... Can't wait to read yours. I love new ideas!

If she cries a lot try gripe water it was a must for my second! Also for the sleeping babywise was also a life saver! It is about having your baby on a schedule which works for me because like knowing what to except & why my baby is crying (for the most part) I don't like playing the guessing game! Looking forward to more posts! & Harper is seriously a DOLL love all her hair reminds me of my girlys!!!

We had trouble with Elodie spitting up alot but her Dr. never took it seriously. Every time we laid her down she would spit up it seemed, so we put a pillow under the head of her bed and the slight incline made such a difference! I wish you luck, and your sweet little girl is adorable!

You are SUPER not joking about a newborn being time consuming. I keep saying having a child is ALL consuming and I never realized it. She consumes my time, thoughts, sleep, personal space, body, etc... lol... It's so crazy how much changes SO quickly.

You look amazing!! Tell us your secrets for looking so good! I'm pregnant with our 3rd child and it's amazing how each baby is so different. Our last one spit up so bad and we thought he had reflux. They gave us some medicine and it didn't do any good. After looking at my diet, I realized I consumed a ton of dairy, and when I totally eliminated that from my diet, he became a new baby. It was amazing!!!!! I tell all my friends now to closely examine their diet when breast feeding.

Try putting a pillow up her mattress on one side. My son had reflux too.. THey cant have pillows to help keep them up right but U can put a pillow under the mattress so it sits up itself. Also if you haven't tried it already, nurse more often so she takes smaller amounts :) Best of luck!

My little Harper (6 weeks older than yours!) had trouble with gas. She cried a lot, especially in the middle of the night. I was told to try "Gripe Water" and it has made a WORLD of difference. I might suggest you try this. Now, we give it to Harper once a day and she never has a problem! :)
