Baby Girl's Wardrobe

Little G needs more clothes hangers already. I can't stop shopping for little girl outfits! I wish I could wear half this stuff... I feel like wearing a onesie & legwarmers would ROCK.

Here are a few of my favorites hanging in her closet... all of these are from Baby Gap.  A little ruffle-butt one piece pajama, adorable black & white ruffle dress to wear to a wedding we will be attending when she is approximately 2 months old, a denim jumper that I had my eye on forever, a white & grey star sleeper night gown & a denim overall skirt from grandma Bonnie! Seriously, I drool over this stuff. I can't wait to play dress up :)

Two of my other favorites (yep, you do see color here!) are these little one pieces from Old Navy. I love love love babies in stripes!

Don't worry, there very few "newborn" sized things in there. Sizes range from 3-6 months all the way up to 18 months. Also just found out that jcrew has baby clothes! Unfortunately they are a bit out of my price range... but so darn cute!
Where are your favorite places to shop for adorable baby clothes & accessories?! I have a feeling I may need more :)

  5. Gymboree always has adorable stuff! Oh and those sleepers like the one you have with the stars on it are the best thing ever!! Invest in a TON of them!! They are so easy to change them and they're comfy especially when the umbilical cord is still attached and they can't be fully clothed ever. Plus they look so cute in them just make sure to get socks to keep her little feet warm!

  6. I've got a closet full of Baby Gap clothes too! I hate to sound ungrateful, but I got a TON of clothes at baby showers that are... not my favorite... at all... but we kept them all and I'm a little bummed about that :) But Baby Gap is FOR SURE a favorite. You should check out www.zara.com ... Absolutely precious little girl clothes. You'll die.

  7. You can find some really great stuff at Target. I don't necessarily love the full outfits all the time, but some of the pieces are fun. Carter's stuff fit my babe the best when she was little, I generally like their summer stuff more than the winter stuff.

  9. I think your blog is AWESOME! I also went to Iowa and would challenge my love of beer to yours;) I have a little girl that is 9 months old and brings absolute joy to my heart. Believe me when I tell you that there is no need for you to buy anymore clothes yourself. They will come POURING in once that baby arrives - especially since you're having a girl. BEST WISHES for a HEALTHY remainder of your pregnancy and SAFE arrival of Baby Gavin!

  14. Jess, here is what I learned with my newborn:
THEY ARE SO TINY! Charlotte did not grow out of NB sized clothing until she was 3 months old. Keep in mind she was almost 8 pounds, so she was a decent sized baby. I had purchased mostly 0-3 months thinking the NB stuff was hilariously too small. She even fit into preemie clothes as a newborn. Crazy!!
Here is what I have learned about specific brands: Gerber brand runs super small. Charlotte is a petite 4-month-old but is wearing 6-9 months in Gerber onesies. (we use the long-sleeved onesies under her t-shirts.) Carter's brand is pretty spot-on and holds up so well! Gap runs a little big, I've noticed. Old Navy & Circo brand (Target) seem to be short & wide. American Eagle's kids brand, 77kids seems to be pretty spot-on, although all we have gotten from them are a couple shirts, a couple pairs of pants and some sleepers. Crazy8 has awesome pajamas that run a little bit big but they have a zipper so they are AWESOME! I guess I can't tell you an exclusive favorite as I like each store for bits and pieces of Charlotte's wardrobe.
Old Navy wins for footie pajamas. A lot of people like the dresses but I didn't. She always put her feet up and pushed on the jammies, causing them to stretch around the neck. Oh, and 77kids pajamas are AWESOME. We absolutely love their pajamas.
For clothes, I am a shameless Target shopper. We don't have a whole lot of extra money to spend, so we can find cute clothes at a good price there, especially now that she's in 3-6 months size.
I love Gap! I just can't afford it all too often.
As another person suggested - consignment stores. They have precious little gems at such great prices, and BONUS - they are broken in and so soft. That is where we got the majority of the basics (onesies, soft pants, etc.)
PS I am chuckling at baby Garvin's GINORMOUS clothing selection! I did the same thing with Charlotte, although we didn't know the sex so it was all grey/green/yellow. (boring. and she never wore most of it because as soon as I knew she was a she, I was smothering her in lavender and pink... especially since I thought she was a HE!) Morgan wanted to kick my ass because I spent so much money on her before I even knew who she was!
I really enjoy your blog and can't wait for your babe to get here! Motherhood is truly the greatest gift.
